The Blessing

As he stands to bless the food, I hear what we know about God.  There is a recount of His mighty works and affirmation of things to come; the sick and shut-in are acknowledged.

Unlike other blessings, I am spared the rhymes.

Yet as the spoutings grow long and dry, my mind wonders; and when I finally have the opportunity to add the "Amen," I can only hope that somewhere in all of that was spoken, the food has been blessed.

1 Timothy 4:4-5 (KJV)   4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
