1 Why do the heathen rage, and the
people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords
from us. 4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord
shall have them in derision.
We, in the churches, have been called to be set-apart. Yet, in the following areas we have joined the kings of the earth and their rulers against the LORD, and we answer the question, Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing:
Acceptance of profanity in common speech.
"Wear the damn mask." Maryland Governor Larry Hogan
"Kick his ass." President Jimmy Carter stating what he would do in the Democratic primary if opposed by Senator Teddy Kennedy.
"To hell with __" commonly used and accepted phrase.
Giving acceptance to the use of God's name in vain:
Making matrimony unholy by acceptance of the practice of couples living together before marriage during the engagement period, acceptance of couples living together as if married without the sanction of marriage by the church of state, having serial marriages, taking matrimony lightly as evidenced by a couples ease of initiating divorce proceedings.
Making the Sabbath unholy. (Deuteronomy 5:14, Isaiah 58:13, Exodus 35:2, Exodus 31:14-17)
Joining the ungodly in their use of cursing in everyday speech.
We can begin to change . .
