Too Late To Save the Democratic Party

Every four years the Democratic party (and the Republican party) establishes its party platform containing the positions about which they are most passionate and on which the party solidly stands. And every four years that platform includes an abortion plank. In 2016 the abortion plank {Securing Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice} included support for safe and legal abortion regardless of where the woman lives or her economic condition, Planned Parenthood, and repeal of the Hyde Amendment which prevents the federal government from spending money for abortions.

Now I know quite a few people who voted for Democratic candidates, but none who support or favor abortion. They all ignore the platform of the party, as Republicans do for their platform, and as do most American voters. None have ever read the Democratic platform.

But the fact remains that every four years the Democratic party yields Christian votes to other parties who do not take a stand against God. In 2016 the Republican party and lesser political parties viewed the Democratic platform and had it rehearsed rehearsed before the tens of million of American church goers. The talking points were sent to pastors of conservative churches throughout the nation. Republican strategists branded the Democratic party as the anti-God party. And the brand is sticking. And the abortion plank is not the only anti God plank. Just read the Guaranteeing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Rights plank.

The position put forth by pastors that Christians should live, speak and vote their beliefs and not support murder or any act that challenges the Bible is not political. It applies to Democrats as well as Republicans.

It may be too late to prevent America from becoming a single party country.  But as a step in a long and tough fight to restore the party, elimination of the abortion plank would go a long way.

2016 Democratic Party Platform Anti-God Planks

Securing Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice

We believe unequivocally, like the majority of Americans, that every woman should have access to quality reproductive health care services, including safe and legal abortion—regardless of where she lives, how much money she makes, or how she is insured. We believe that reproductive health is core to women’s, men’s, and young people’s health and wellbeing. We will continue to stand up to Republican efforts to defund Planned Parenthood health centers, which provide critical health services to millions of people. We will continue to oppose—and seek to overturn—federal and state laws and policies that impede a woman’s access to abortion, including by repealing the Hyde Amendment. We condemn and will combat any acts of violence, harassment, and intimidation of reproductive health providers, patients, and staff. We will defend the ACA, which extends affordable preventive health care to women, including no-cost contraception, and prohibits discrimination in health care based on gender.

We will address the discrimination and barriers that inhibit meaningful access to reproductive health care services, including those based on gender, sexuality, race, income, disability, and other factors. We recognize that quality, affordable comprehensive health care, evidence-based sex education and a full range of family planning services help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and thereby also reduce the need for abortions.

And we strongly and unequivocally support a woman’s decision to have a child, including by ensuring a safe and healthy pregnancy and childbirth, and by providing services during pregnancy and after the birth of a child, including adoption and social support services, as well as protections for women against pregnancy discrimination. We are committed to creating a society where children are safe and can thrive physically, emotionally, educationally, and spiritually. We recognize and support the importance of civil structures that are essential to creating this for every child.

Guaranteeing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Rights

Democrats applaud last year’s decision by the Supreme Court that recognized that LGBT people—like other Americans—have the right to marry the person they love. But there is still much work to be done. LGBT kids continue to be bullied at school, restaurants can refuse to serve transgender people, and same-sex couples are at risk of being evicted from their homes. That is unacceptable and must change. Democrats will fight for the continued development of sex discrimination law to cover LGBT people. We will also fight for comprehensive federal non-discrimination protections for all LGBT Americans, to guarantee equal rights in areas such as housing, employment, public accommodations, credit, jury service, education, and federal funding. We will oppose all state efforts to discriminate against LGBT individuals, including legislation that restricts the right to access public spaces. We support a progressive vision of religious freedom that respects pluralism and rejects the misuse of religion to discriminate. We will combat LGBT youth homelessness and improve school climates. We will support LGBT elders, ensure access to necessary health care, and protect LGBT people from violence—including ending the crisis of violence against transgender Americans. We will also promote LGBT human rights and ensure America’s foreign policy is inclusive of LGBT people around the world.

Matthew 7:15-20 (KJV)
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
