New Urgency For President-elect Trump To Tackle Cyber Security
Just reported in the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/16/us/politics/china-phones-software-security.html), a Chinese company has been secretly receiving data from over 400,000 cell phone in the U.S. without knowledge or permission of the cell phones owners. The company, Shanghai Adups Technology Company (Adups), runs a code over more than 700 million cars, phones, and smart devices. There is no mention of how long this surveillance has been going on.
The question is why is this not a national security issue? And as it clearly is, what is our government doing about it?
According toAdups says the software was written to capture commercial information at the request of an unidentified Chinese manufacturer. But we donít know that it is limited to that use. Besides, who gave Adups the right to provide data from my phone to anyone?
This makes clear why President-elect Trumpís first order of business must be to establish cyber superiority worldwide and provide China and cyber bandits incentives to cease attacks on U.S. companies and individuals.
On the flip side, we individuals who use smart phones must be more diligent in our selections of a phone, carriers and how we use cell phones. (There maybe a window for Blackberry here.)
Meantime, we must remember that the Lord is our security. Despite President-elect Trumpís actions, we must trust in the Lord continually and not be distracted from praising Him for our continued safety and peace.
Psalm 67:5-6 (NIV) 5 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you. 6 Then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us.
